Porto Cradle of Port
Description:
The city of Porto is a city that gave its name to the whole state and a drink of port wine. The city has been on the UNESCO list since 1996 and recognized as the best tourist destination by NG magazine.
You will pass through the narrow streets of the old upper city, plunge into the silence of the beautiful cathedrals, the vaults that still remember the legendary kings Afonso I, John I, Manuel I.
You will see the embankment of the Douro River, the famous boats “barkush rabelosh”, on which barrels with port wine were fused to mature into the cellars of Porto. You can swim under five bridges, including the one built by Gustav Eiffel, and make a wish, which, as old-timers say, will come true if you shout it into your voice.
The upper new city will surprise you with a cascade of colors and styles - from Manueline to Futurism, from aged classical forms to a heap of gold and stucco - it has everything! And the highest point of the city is the Tower of the Church of Clerics, and a modern concert hall by Rem Koolhas.
And if you get tired of wandering around, you can always sit down in the fragrant smelling cafe and taste the local cuisine - magnificent octopuses on the Ribeira waterfront to Porto, coffee and croissants in the French cafe Majestic on Santa Catarina Street, or traditional fried sardines on Marginal.
Porto is a city of mystery. In the rain, it will remind you of the grumpy uncle of a pensioner, in the rays of the bright sun - a young girl trying on her grandmother's dress, and in the veil of fog - a mysterious universe where you can meet a knight, riding a horse or a dragon, soaring from the dome of the old cathedral. In what weather do you choose for yourself?
