Bahchisarai

Legacy of the Crimean Khanate

Description:

Bakhchisarai is a picturesque city located in the heart of our peninsula. Since the beginning of the 16th century, it was the capital of the Crimean Khanate and still fully preserved the ancient traditions of the Crimean Tatar people. Having visited Bakhchisarai, you will plunge into the atmosphere of the eastern bazaar, where at every step you will be offered to go to a small restaurant or coffee shop, or a retail store.

During our tour we will climb the plateau of the cave town of Chufut Calais, one of the 12 cave towns of our peninsula, founded by the Goto Alans in the 4th century AD. Later, the Byzantines owned this city. And in the 15th century, Ostuda led his struggle for power on the throne, the first Crimean Khan Khoja Geray. Life on Chufut Calais did not fade until the early 19th century. Also from the picturesque cliffs of the plateau you will open a panorama of the inner ridge of the Crimean mountains.

We will visit the Assumption Monastery, founded in the 8th century AD by natives of Byzantium and operating to this day.

We will also visit the Khan’s Palace, founded by the son of the first Crimean Khan Mengli Geray in the early sixteenth century. The Khan’s Palace is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

At your request, we will have lunch in one of the colorful restaurants of the local Crimean Tatar cuisine.
