Operation midshipmen Volonchuk and Anikin in the city of Evpatoria

On December 5, 1941, the commander of the 1st division of the SKA OVR and the GVMB, Lieutenant-Captain V.T. Gaiko-Belan, received the order of the OVR headquarters to allocate two small hunters to perform an amphibious operation in Evpatoria. On the same day, the commander of the OVR and Rear Admiral V. Fadeev gathered the commanders of the SKA-041 boats Lieutenant I.I. Chulov and SKV-041 Junior Lieutenant N.S. Bazhanov and set the task. On the night of December 6, to land in the port of Evpatoria two sabotage and reconnaissance groups under the command of midshipmen M. Anikin and F. Volonchuk. The overall management of the operation was entrusted to Captain V.V. Topchiev and battalion commissar U.A.Latysh. According to the intelligence received, there were no warships in Evpatoria, only fishing schooners were observed.

On the night of December 6, 1941, two small hunters carefully approached the banks of Evpatoria bay with extinguished lights. On the flagship SKA-041, in addition to the Anikin group, there were senior lieutenant Solyanikov and divisional navigator K.I. Voronin. On SKA-041-commissioner of the division P.G. Moiseev and battalion commissar Latyshev with intelligence officers of midshipman Volonchuk. The Anikin group was tasked with destroying the police department, seizing documents, and taking prisoners. Volonchuk's group was to raid the local airfield and destroy the aircraft there. Passing Cape Quarantine, the boats were distributed SKA-0141 to the passenger pier, located on the territory of the current Park named after Karaev, and SKA-041 to the bread, located much to the east near the warehouse "Zagotzerno". When approaching the passenger pier, on which the silhouette of the sentry appeared vaguely, the commander of the SKA-041 decided to moor with the starboard side and almost ran into a schooner standing at the pier. The order was immediately given to the engine room. "Full back!" and the boat was forced to approach the pier from the other side. On the nose of the hunter stood midshipman Volonczuk in the form of a German officer and next to him two "German soldiers" disguised scouts. Together with the boatsman Yakovlev, they captured the sentry and lowered it into the cubicle. Having done good to him, Latyshev learned the password and the communication system with the guard room. Having thus received the necessary information, the scouts went to the city, removing two sentries on the way. On the roof of the warehouse near the passenger pier was sent Miner K.V. Altsybeev with a machine gun. His job was to cover up the intelligence team. During the operation, documents from the police department, a large number of small arms and twelve “languages” were seized. The building of the police department was burned by scouts (now on the site of the burned building on Revolution Street opposite the cafe "Penguin") is a square. More than a hundred Soviet citizens were released from fascist captivity (apparently from the police building); about a dozen Hitlerites, including the assistant chief of the Evpatorian horizon, were destroyed. Anikin's group raided the airfield. There were no planes that night. Both groups of scouts were in the city for about four hours, brilliantly completing their tasks. Returning to the port without losses, the scouts loaded the trophies on the hunters and prepared to leave. Removing from the moorings, the sailors threw bottles with a combustible mixture standing at the pier schooners. Only after that, the Nazis discovered the departing boats, which quickly disappeared in the fog. When dawn broke, the Germans raised aircraft from the Saka airfield. From the boat heard the rumble of aircraft engines, but found our ships the Germans could not - over the sea a solid wall was fog. Both boats returned safely to Strelets Bay without losing a single person.
