Summer Expedition

1 DAY. Meeting of tourists in Barnaul (Biysk, Gorno-Altaisk) at the airport and at railway stations. Travel by tourist bus 150-420 km to the base camp. The camp is located near the village of Edigan, on the bank of the river of the same name. On the way, at the request of tourists, you can stop for lunch and for sightseeing. We stay overnight (in tents or houses), relax, prepare for the hike.

2 DAY. We pack things, get acquainted with horses, adjust the harness, and on the way. We begin the horse crossing up the Kainzara River. The country road leads us to the village of Edigan up. Lower pastures are replaced by haymaking and then pass into the real taiga. Horses constantly have to go up (daily elevation difference of about 1100 m), so we move slowly. On the way, we will meet a maral garden in which marals are grown. For the night, we stop a little higher, in the Skin tract, where you can feed the horses with succulent alpine herbs.

3 DAY. We're going through Aksas, Karagusen. Descent to the river Malaya Sumulta. This fast river with almost icy water hides many rubble and sunken trunks of huge trees. There are no planned tourist raftings on this river - the risk is too great.

4 DAY. Brode through the Small Sumult, climbing the hunting trail along the Verkh-Kurtuchak tract. Overnight at the top of the mountains called the Kuranas.

5 DAY. We're on the ridge. On the left is the basin of the Malaya Sumulta River, and on the right are the tributaries of the Big Sumulta. We walk along the ridge, cross several small passes. On the way there will be several lakes, but we will not approach them, since we need to have time to reach our parking lot in Chairaza before dusk.

6 DAY. We visit a large mountain lake, the water in it seems green. Here you can find wild animals, a bear. Fun descent (hunting trails are very different from the tourist ones, you will immediately understand this) down the Kuldyuk-Karasa gorge. Overnight by the river Kamga.

7 DAY. A steep climb called Kabarga. We're going up slowly. At the top, we go as if on the airfield: the mountains below us on the left and right, to meet only clouds. Overnight in Akkem.

8 DAY. We are walking past Mount Baida (2390m). Descent to Small Kurdin, then pass to Big Kurdin (tributaries of Sumulti). The paths here are barely noticeable, and the landscapes conquer wild, untouched beauty. For the night, we will find a more open place. By this time, probably, you have already become real taigas and realized that the forest and wilds for parking with horses are not very suitable.

9 DAY. The cargo is getting smaller, so we are moving faster. Again steep descent, then deep ford (at the confluence of the rivers Aksaskand and Kyzyltoburak, forming the Big Sumulta), and we go to the valley Kyzyltoburak (Red sand).

10-11-12 DAYS. There it is, untrodden taiga! You have climbed so far that hardly any of the tourists can say that you have already been there. It is said that these places used to dig gold, hide weapons and hide from the authorities. Come back and, if you want to give up your secrets, tell us everything that happened to you these days, so we can fill in the gaps in the description.

13 DAY. Transition to the tract "Karasaskanda", ford over the river, overnight in the tract Ayryk.

14 DAY. Getting closer and closer to home. Ascent and descent to the charming Blue Lake, overnight in Aksascan.

15 DAY. Nameless Pass, crossing the Konoi Logo, overnight stay in Turdem. Several mountain rivers merge here together and form the Small Sumult.

16 days. Pass through the Soigonosh Pass, past the cascading waterfalls into the Toguskol Valley. Those who have not yet bathed, afraid of cold water, dive into the Toguskol lakes. Compared to previous rivers and lakes, they will appear warm.

17 days. We cross the Kara-Irbak canyon and go through the Taman-Ajou pass. We go down to the Kyzal-Gak valley and go along the Kuminsky ridge to the parking lot in the upper reaches of the Ayul River. The proximity of “civilization” is clearly manifested by the paths broken by many hooves.

18 days. We descend the Ayula tract down to the Edihta River, a country road directly to the base camp. The active part of the tour is over. You can go to the bathroom and exchange photos.

19 DAY. Departure of the group to Barnaul, Gorno-Altaisk or Biysk. It is possible to leave by bus directly to Novosibirsk.
