Alloying on Chuya and Middle Katun in the Katamarans

1 DAY (Thursday). On Thursday, you can take our planned bus from Barnaul (420 km), Biysk (250 km) or Gorno-Altaisk (150 km) to the base camp near the village of Edigan and relax from the road.

2 DAY (Friday). Flight to start rafting from our base camp. We also meet and pick you up from Gorno-Altaisk (from the morning plane) and Chemala (from the morning bus). We move things into drivebags, load ships and equipment onto cars and drive along the Chui highway. Today we are waiting for three hundred kilometers of the mountain road, the long Seminsky pass and the harsh Chike-Taman pass. The road and the river are clamped by mountains. You can only go down to the shore in a few places. We stop at the planned start of rafting on the shore of Chui at the threshold of the Petrel. Calmly unload, prepare dinner and settle down for the night in tents on the shore.

3 DAY (Saturday). We pack up, blow up catamarans, tie up drives. Safety briefing. Each tourist is given and fitted with personal water equipment (savage, helmet, paddle). Wetsuits should be thought about in advance (pre-try on and take on the base). Start. Tourists pass the Burevestnik threshold (length 300 m, consists of 2 steps). Inspection and passage of the Behemoth threshold (powerful plums, barrels, raging shafts up to 2 m high). Since 1976, international competitions of watermen Chuya Rally have been held on this threshold. It's 22 kilometers a day.

4 DAY (Sunday). Viewing and passing a powerful threshold Turbinny (here at the site of 25 m the river falls by 4 m), the threshold of the Turclub, Horizon. Thresholds of canyon type, the river is sandwiched in rocks 15-20 m high. After the rapids there is a large section of Shiver and after 6 km we are already waiting for Katun! Chuya combines its waters with the blue Katunya, dramatically changing its color and transparency. Perhaps, in the evening at the halt, tourists will join us, who begin from here rafting on the middle Katun on rafts. Transition in a day 24 km.

5 DAY (Monday). Occasionally we come across small shafts and barrels. After 2 hours, the group approaches the threshold of Ilgumensky (IV c.s.). The length of the threshold is about 300 m, powerful water and waves up to 2.5 m high. At all rapids there is an opportunity to view the rapids and bypass them along the shore, but, as a rule, the group passes most of the rapids of the middle Katun without preview and, of course, without bypassing them along the shore. Since it is difficult for tourists to shoot video in the doorsteps themselves, a video camera is mounted on the nose of our raft. After rafting, ask for a memorable video from the captain! Next, we are waiting for the Kadrinskaya pipe (IV c.s.), consisting of individual rapids with a total length of about 12 km, with large waves, rock narrowing, barrels and funnels. We stay overnight in front of the Bag.

6 DAY (Tuesday). We pass the threshold of the Sack, then there will be a small area of calm water, and the group comes to the threshold of the Sabbath - the most serious obstacle on the middle Katun (IV c.s.). The threshold consists of two stages and passes with preliminary exploration and mutual insurance. In the first stage there is a large pulsating barrel. In the second stage, several entrance barrels and many shafts with a height of 2-2.5 m. Between the rapids, too, do not miss - the river is full of Shiver and smaller barrels. After about 1.5 hours, we approach the threshold of Kayanchinsky. At the parking lot "Petroglyphs" we get acquainted with rock paintings.

7 DAY (Wednesday). The group continues rafting along a relatively calm section of the river, but relax early - there is another threshold ahead, Ayalinsky. On the right bank of Katun, the Beltertyuk River is visible, which breaks into Katun with a beautiful cascading waterfall. After the mouth of the Edigan River, we will go to the rapids of Teldekpen-1 and -2 (from the Altai "Rised Mountain") (III c.s.). The river cut its way into the rocks, forming a two-kilometer canyon with steep walls. The powerful turbulence of the flow with a chaotic pile of jets, funnels and water fungi is very impressive. After rafting, we are met by a car and taken to the camp (15 km). You can go to the bathroom and dry everything.

8 DAY (Thursday). Departure from the camp to Barnaul, Biysk, Gorno-Altaisk, Chemal (or to the bus to Novosibirsk). You can stay at base camp and leave on Friday or Sunday on the next scheduled bus.
