Middle Katun rafting

0 DAY (Saturday). On Saturday you can come to the base camp near the village of Edigan on our planned bus from Barnaul, Biysk, Gorno-Altaisk and relax from the road.

1 DAY (Sunday). Flight to the beginning of the rafting from Gorno-Altaisk, Chemal and from our base camp, if you arrived earlier. We move things into drivebags, load ships and equipment onto cars and drive along the Chui highway. Today we are waiting for hundreds of kilometers of mountain road, the long Seminsky pass, and the harsh Chike-Taman pass. The road and the river are clamped by mountains. Going down to the shore is not everywhere. Stop at the planned beginning of the alloy (near the confluence of Katuni and Chui). Calmly unload, prepare dinner and settle down for the night in tents on the shore.

2 DAY (Monday). We pack, blow up rafts and catamarans, tie up drives. Safety briefing. Start. In the first hour of rafting there are no serious obstacles on the river, and tourists get used to their ships. Occasionally there are shafts and barrels. Then the group approaches the Ilgumensky threshold - the first big threshold on the route (IV c.s.). The length of the threshold is about 300 m, powerful water and high waves. Next, we are waiting for the Kadrinskaya Pipe (IV c.s.), consisting of individual rapids, with a total length of about 12 km, with large waves, rock narrowing, barrels and funnels. Overnight in front of the Bag. In the evening instructors like to fish here (usually use spinning and midges). You can also take advantage of this opportunity.

3 DAY (Tuesday). Pass the Bag threshold. A small area of calm water and, the group comes to the threshold of Sabash - the most serious obstacle on the river (IV c.s.). The threshold consists of two stages and passes with preliminary exploration and mutual insurance. In the first stage there is a large pulsating barrel. In the second stage, several entrance barrels and many shafts up to 2 m high. Between the rapids, too, do not miss - the river is full of Shiver and smaller barrels. After about 1.5 hours, we approach the threshold of Kayanchinsky. We usually go without a look. Overnight in the parking lot "Petroglyphs". Acquaintance with rock paintings.

4 DAY (Wednesday). The group continues rafting along a relatively calm section of the river, but it is too early to relax - there is another threshold ahead, Ayalinsky. On the right bank of Katun, the Beltertyuk River is visible, which breaks into Katun with a beautiful cascading waterfall. After the mouth of the Edigan River, we will go to the rapids of Teldekpen-1 and -2 (from the Altai "Rised Mountain") (III c.s.). The river cut its way into the rocks, forming a two-kilometer canyon with steep walls. The powerful turbulence of the flow with a chaotic pile of jets, funnels and water fungi is very impressive. After rafting, we are met by a car and taken to the camp (15 km). You can go to the bathroom and dry everything.

5 DAY (Thursday). Departure from the camp to Barnaul, Biysk, Gorno-Altaisk. You can take a direct bus to Novosibirsk in Chemala. You can stay at the camp and leave later (Friday or Sunday) or continue the trip by another route.
