About how to shoot a movie for the BBC in Kronstadt

Description:

Good afternoon, dear readers!

In addition to working as a guide in St. Petersburg, sometimes there are very interesting meetings, you can even say adventures. In June 2016, a colleague wrote to me and told me that a BBC crew was coming to finish the film and they needed someone to give a detailed interview on the history of the fleet and our relationship with the Ottoman Empire. And since it was a very special subject, she advised the English. Well, of course I agreed to try it, it's interesting. I have some experience working with journalists, and the topic is good! But it was still more interesting.

In July, after several phone calls with Stefan, the film's director, the task became clear. The British filmed a documentary about the history of relations between the Ottoman Empire and Russia in 3 episodes. And my task was to give a detailed interview about the history of the Russian Navy, its appearance and development of naval bases, as well as the role in foreign policy in connection with the topic under consideration. The date was chosen on July 20. Filming took place in Kronstadt, in the water area near Fort Emperor Alexander 1, and the host (Julian) and the cameraman (Jonathan) were placed in my boat with Stefan: . . The views are of course colorful and more than suitable for this topic. Despite the stormy weather, everything went well. However, my task became somewhat more complicated, because it was necessary not only to conduct a dialogue on camera in English, but also to constantly monitor the boat on the wave and prevent it from drifting in conditions of pitching and busy ship traffic. The problem, I must say, is the same, in our weather conditions. But nothing, everything was successful, several plans were removed and the interview itself, and then two more times separately I had to ride to the fort only with Julian, to have an effect, as if we went out on a boat together and talk about history. It took 2.5 hours, probably, all pretty cold, the air temperature was 12-13 degrees above zero. Especially not sweet was the host Julian, who was in one jacket, but as a real gentleman, he did not show: Nevertheless, the experience was very interesting!

The film in 3 series will be released in English in 2017, now the editing is over. Let's see what happened.
