Monument to Pushkin on Fiolente
Description:
The monument to Pushkin on Fiolent is installed in one of the most beautiful Crimean places and is recognized as one of the brightest local attractions. In 1820, Alexander Pushkin was passing through these places and visited the nearby St. George Monastery.
The history of this building is unusual and thorny. The grand opening of the monument took place in 1999 and was timed to the 200th anniversary of the great classic of Russian poetry and prose. But after some time, the monument was demolished due to the discontent of the owners of the country partnership, who believed that the monument was installed on the territory belonging to them. For a decade, the authorities of Sevastopol made attempts to negotiate with summer residents and defend the place for the monument. In the end, common sense prevailed and the monument was restored in July 2011.
The monument to the poet is located above the shore of Cape Fiolent, 13 km from Sevastopol. It can be reached by the Fiolentovskoe highway.
