Grand Royal Palace

Na Phra Lan Road, Old City, Bangkok

Description:

The Royal Palace in Bangkok is famous not only in the Thai capital, but also far beyond its borders. The beginning of construction dates back to the 18th century.

King Rama I moved the capital to Bangkok and ordered the construction of a palace ensemble. For three years it was built by the best architects, surrounded by a two-kilometer wall. Here Rama the First was crowned.

Over time, the wooden building was changed, making it stone. There were new ornaments, jewelry. Even today, it hosts state-level receptions, royal weddings and other important events. Of the attractions on the territory of the Palace, the most famous are the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the Royal Library, the pantheon.

The architectural style of the palace combines Italian and Thai traditions. The guard of honor serves here every day. You can get there by express boat on the Chaopraya River, city buses, taxis, car, on foot.
