Phra Sumen Fort

Phra Athit Road, Bangkok, Thailand

Description:

Phra Sumen Fort is a defensive structure preserved since 1783. Its purpose was to protect the country from Burmese raids. It was built by order of King Rama I. And although its strategic purpose is lost today, tourists are happy to visit this place. A fort was built of brick in the form of a hexagon, which allowed the guards to conduct a circular review and, if necessary, open fire on the enemy. The fort is surrounded by 14 towers, and the largest is located in the center. All the walls of the buildings are white. Iron guns and mortars have survived. The diameter of the fort is 45 meters. Viewpoints allow you to see beautiful Thai sunsets. Lighting in the evening creates a fabulous effect. You can get by boat or boat to the Phra Arthit pier (No. 13), by metro to Saphan Taksin station, by taxi.
