Shri Mariamman Temple

Silom Road, Bangkok, Thailand

Description:

Sri Mariamman Temple in Bangkok dates back to 1823. It appeared thanks to Naraina Pillai, who was able to achieve this place as a Hindu temple. The wooden structure was replaced by brick in 1843. The temple was constantly completed, decorated with new elements. It was built in honor of the goddess Mariammam. Her figure is inside the temple. At the gate you can see sculptures of Thai gods. Inside the temple there are frescoes, on the walls there are sculptural images of saints. Before the entrance there is a bell, which should be called and raise the gods about his coming. At the entrance there is a 6-meter tower decorated with carvings. Every year, the Navi festival is held here, during which the image of Mariamman with yellow garlands is worn through the streets of the city.
