Golden Buddha Temple by Wat Trai Mit
661 Tri Mit, Talad Noi, Samphanthawong, Bangkok, Thailand
Description:
Golden Buddha Temple - Wat Trai Mit is a Buddhist temple built in traditional Thai style. It was built in the last century. The temple is located in Bangkok’s Chinatown. It owes its name to its main attraction – a huge statue of a sitting Buddha cast in gold. The eyes of the Buddha are made of pearls and black sapphires. The statue is over 3 meters high and weighs 5.5 tons. She was accidentally found in an abandoned temple. When loaded onto a truck, the statue fell, and a piece of plaster broke off from it, which covered it during the Burmese occupation. This splintered piece of plaster is also kept in the temple.
