King Rama IX Park
Sukhumvit 103 Road, Bangkok, Thailand
Description:
Rama IX Park is one of the largest parks in Bangkok. It is a colorful oasis and a source of fresh air for the population of the city.
The park was built in 1987 in honor of the birthday of King Rama IX. The facility is located 24 kilometers from the center of Bangkok and covers an area of 80 hectares of land.
The park is divided into 6 thematic areas. The largest area, 24 hectares, is occupied by a botanical garden, which is designed with all environmental requirements in mind. The Grand Royal Garden, which occupies about 3.5 hectares of land, is built in the style of the Ratanakosin era. A special place in the garden belongs to the Hall of Celebrations, where you can deepen your knowledge about the king. The third zone is an artificial lake that serves as the basin of the Chao Phraya River. The Rommaniya garden shows the beauty of tropical Thailand. Traditional seasonal festivals and all events take place in the flat area of the park known as the Royal Land. No less interesting part of the park is the water garden, which has become a habitat for many tropical birds and reptiles.
Today, the park is called a horticultural center, as large-scale research work in the field of breeding new varieties and forms of plants is organized on the basis of the park.
