Santiphap Park

Soi Ratchawithi 3, Chai Samoraphum, Ratchathewi, Bangkok, Thailand

Description:

Santiphap Park is a small urban park in Bangkok, whose name literally means “Peace Park” in Thai. The park was opened to the public on a symbolic commemorative day on August 18, 1998, the day of the end of World War II. It occupies only eight acres of space.

An artificial pond has been dug in the park, in the center of which is a bronze sculpture of a pigeon carrying an olive branch in its beak. At the entrance to Santiphap Park there are signs with facsimile handwriting of the famous Buddhist monk, philosopher and pacifist Buddhadasa Bhikkhu.
