National Museum of Bangkok

Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200, Thailand

About the company:

Bangkok National Museum is Thailand’s first public museum. It was created in the Grand Palace to preserve the private collection of antiques of King Mongkut (King Rama IV, 1851-1868). This museum was founded by his son, King Rama V, in 1874.

Later, after its reorganization, the museum was moved to the Museum of Art and Archaeology in the temple of Wang Na. Museum collections dedicated to cultural heritage have multiplied and since then the museum has become the National Museum of Bangkok. It features an extensive collection of artifacts that have been found in all parts of Thailand, from the Neolithic period to the Bangkok period. In the museum you can see Chinese weapons, precious stones, Khon masks, ceramics, puppets, clothing and textiles, wood carvings, traditional musical instruments and other antique items.

The museum operates from Wednesday to Sunday from 9 am to 4 pm.
