Aegean
Description:
The Aegean Sea is a warm southern sea, geographically the basin of the Mediterranean Sea. Currently, the Aegean Sea washes the territory of two countries - Greece and Turkey. The sea is famous for a huge number of islands and comfortable beaches.
The area of the Aegean Sea is 179,000 square kilometers, and more than 2,000 islands are located in these vast waters. It was in this region that the greatest civilizations of the past – ancient Greece and Byzantium – were born. On the islands and coasts of the Aegean Sea there are still many historical monuments, ancient ruins and ancient buildings.
Among the beaches of the Aegean Sea, pebble beaches prevail. They are famous for their cleanliness and well-being. In Turkey alone, more than a hundred beaches have been awarded the "blue flag" - a special international award given to the cleanest places for swimming.
The Aegean Sea is one of the most preferred places to relax. There are rarely serious storms, the climate is mild, and the water is clean and suitable for swimming most of the year. But it is worth considering that the sea water here is very salty, and after bathing it is recommended to rinse the skin with fresh water. Otherwise, the Aegean Sea is a wonderful choice to spend the whole holiday on its beaches.
