The pigeon island in Turkey (Kusadasi) became famous thanks to the Genoese-Ottoman fortress of Guvercinada Kalesi castle located here. From a geographical point of view, Kusadasi is a peninsula that connects to the land through an artificial embankment. Its length is just over 300 m.

The main island landmark was built during the Ottoman Empire by the project of the Turkish architect Ilyas Agha. The construction was entrusted to the Ottoman Admiral Khair ad-Din Barbarossa, a famous pirate of the Mediterranean Sea. The coordinates of the island are 37.8601 and 27.2571.
