Monument to a girl meeting sailors

The monument to a girl who meets sailors was erected not so long ago. The sculpture of the girl seems to meet and escort every ship in the port of Marmaris, and represents love, faith and boundless patience. It is made of bronze and installed on the embankment.
The girl stands in full growth, her figure is installed on a pedestal of stone. In her hands she holds a bird with wings open. It feels like she recently sat down on her hand to pass on news from a loved one.
On the stone pedestal there is a tablet with a quote from the outstanding Turkish poet Nazim Hikmet about the human choice: “To live like a tree, in solitude and freedom, or to be a part of the forest...”
The monument can be found in the port of Marmaris on the coast.
