Old fortress of Marmaris

From the hill on which the fortress of Marmaris Kalesi is located, you can enjoy excellent views of the coast. It is located near the old town, next to the promenade and a street with a large concentration of bars and restaurants (Bar Street).
It is nice to relax here in the warm season, as there is a small park nearby, as well as a restaurant where you can eat deliciously.
In 1522, Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent ordered to build a new building on the site where the Ionian fortress was previously located, which we can see even today. The fortress has the shape of a regular rectangle with four towers, which are connected by stairs and transitions. In the eastern part of the building is the citadel.
The walls of the citadel are made of red brick, and the towers themselves are made of wood.
