Ancient city of Seleucia
Description:
The ancient city of Seleucia was founded by the inhabitants of Side in the 4th century BC to hide there from pirates. It is located high on a hill, thanks to the steep slopes, this place is naturally protected. Seleucia was surrounded by 9-meter walls with one gate. The city is well preserved to our days.
It is better to get to Seleucia by ordering a special excursion from Side. The city on the hill is surrounded by forest, and from above offers a delightful view. Outside the gate you can see the ruins of the agora, and on the other hand - the Byzantine chapel. Nearby are the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, a bronze statue of which is now housed in the Antalya Museum.
