Vespasian Fountain
Liman Cd, 07600 Side/Antalya, Turkey
Description:
The Vespasian Fountain is located in the historical part of Side and is a small structure that had a decorative and household character. The fountain is named after the Roman emperor Titus Flavius Vespasian, who lived in the first century AD and played a prominent role in Roman history.
All the main elements of the fountain - a meter podium and a two-meter semicircular niche with Corinthian columns - are perfectly preserved to this day. Initially, the niche of the fountain was decorated with statues that unfortunately have not survived.
The fountain is inactive today. But once continuously fed through the aqueduct, water streamed into a small pool in front of it.
