Side Museum
About the company:
Side is a magnificent ancient city, which is considered the main tourist center of Turkey. One of its main attractions is the museum, which contains most of the valuable finds that have been discovered here at different times. A large number of exhibits were found in 1947-1967 during excavations of the city under the leadership of archaeologist Arif Mufid Mansel.
When exploring the halls of the Museum, Side should not be in a hurry, because each of them hides the mystery and charm of a certain era. During the excavations in the city were found sarcophagi, reliefs and Roman statues. Most of the latter were beheaded, as Christians opposed idolatry. The museum has three halls, the first of which contains unique bas-reliefs of the Hellenistic period, as well as a sundial and an ancient altar. In the second hall are exhibited various torsos dating from the Roman period, and in the third - inscriptions, statues and amphorae of the Hellenistic period. Every year this place attracts thousands of tourists. The Side Museum is open from Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 13:00.
