Our tour is called “The Magnificent Century – Harem”. First we visit the beautiful mosque of Sultan the Magnificent Suleiman. In the courtyard of the mosque is a cemetery, here in two neighboring mausoleums rests Suleiman himself and his beloved wife Roksolana. There are versions that the mosque is slowly slipping into the Golden Horn Bay.
Next, we head towards Topkapi Palace, which was the center of Ottoman rule. You can walk there in 15 minutes from the Sulaymaniye Mosque. We will see the harem, as well as the palace where 25 sultans of the Ottoman Empire lived and ruled. After visiting the harem and the palace, we will have a break for lunch or a cup of coffee, and after a break we will visit the reservoir and the Hippodrome, which retained its importance after the conquest of Istanbul, who witnessed horse racing, javelin throwing, games, ritual circumcision and religious festivals.
