St. Mary Draperis Church
Istanbul, Beyoğlu, Istiklal Avenue, 215
Description:
The cultural and religious appearance of the Turkish capital is a variety of temples of different faiths. One of them is the Roman Catholic Church of St. Mary Draperis, originally built in the late 16th century.
A beautiful staircase leads to the doors of the temple. The altar of pink Carrara marble, a magnificent chandelier of huge size and a massive blue-golden ceiling amaze with their beauty. Preserved, despite numerous destructions and fires, the wooden icon of the Mother of God is the main value of the temple.
