Description:

The Eyyub Ansari Mosque in Istanbul attracts Muslim pilgrims from all over the world. The temple dates back to 1458. Named after the standard-bearer of the prophet - Eyyub al-Ansari. The place for its construction was not chosen by chance. According to legend, it was here that he died during the siege of Constantinople. More than 3,500 people worked on its creation, and not all of them were Muslims. Initially, six minarets were built, and since the Kaaba had the same number of minarets, a scandal broke out, so a seventh minaret appeared on the territory of the mosque. The mosque is active, the fourth most important in the country. Ayoub himself is buried here. In the yard, a plane tree grows, near which they pray and make wishes. There are fountains and a tomb. The mosque was destroyed by an earthquake and rebuilt in 1798. You can get there by city buses 55T, 99U, 44V, 39U, or by steamer to the pier Eyyub.
