Show me on the map

Description:

The most famous and recognizable square of the eastern city is Sultanahmet Square (Istanbul). During the Byzantine Empire there was the greatest hippodrome.

Today, this large area is divided into two parts. The first is the Hagia Sophia Museum and the Blue Mosque, built by Sultan Ahmet himself (this square is named after him), the second part is the Hippodrome Square in Istanbul.

On the square you can see mosques, palaces, monuments and civil buildings. So, here is the University of Marwara - one of the largest in the country. They teach here in 4 languages. A large number of coniferous trees were planted on the territory of the Square. Local traders sell baked corn and chestnuts on the streets. Tourists are attracted by the smell of fresh Turkish muffin.

Nowadays, the territory of the Square is used specifically for concerts and folk festivals.

How do you get to the Square?

Take the T1 tram, get to the Kabatash stop. Then you need to walk for about 10 minutes during the tram.

In the area of Sultanahmet there is a large number of hostels and hotels.
