Whiskey tour. Ballindalloch Castle

Description:

Being in the north of Scotland, it is simply impossible to leave aside the theme of single malt Scotch whisky, or as they say here, the single molt scotch. As you can see on the map, the distillery in Speyside can be found literally every kilometer!

I will list only the most famous Speyside distillery, which conduct whiskey tours in their operating workshops: Benromach, Cardew, Ballindalloch, Cregenmore, Glenfarklas, Glenlivet, Aberlau, Glenfiddich, Balvini, MacAllan, Glen Grant, Strasaila, Glen Moray and many others.

And of course, being in Speyside, it is simply unwise to miss the opportunity to visit the medieval residential castle of Ballindalloch. The family of hereditary aristocrats Macpherson Grant and now lives in the castle, peacefully coexisting with the ghosts of ancestors living there. The hosts kindly open the doors of their properties to inquisitive visitors a few months a year. And believe it or not, a meeting with the ghost of the Lady in pink is highly likely.

In addition to the castle and its gardens, it will be logical to visit the completely charming distillery belonging to the family, where you can participate in the process of making whiskey and fill your own barrel. And during the Speyside Whisky Festival, there is an opportunity to meet and chat with the founders of the distillery Oliver Russell and Claire McPherson-Grant, as well as general manager Brian Robertson. And do it in a stunningly cozy and at the same time luxurious hall, where Queen Elizabeth and members of the royal family are usually received;

On this tour, I suggest you choose no more than two or three whiskey shops from the above list, including also the historic Dallas Doo. Or add something else at your discretion.

I try to build the route in such a way as to capture many more interesting places along the way, plus get acquainted with the wildlife of this magical land. For example, I can not drive past the ancient bridge over the river Spey, so as not to walk on it and once again not to look at the whirlpools of the legendary river. He is very interested in philosophical thinking...
