Description:
In the Coptic district of Cairo there are many different interesting places. One of them is the Orthodox Church of St. Mercury Abu Seifein. The building was the residence of many Coptic patriarchs of medieval times. Here rested many respected persons of the Church. Interestingly, a millennium ago, the temple was demolished, and a warehouse for sugar cane was erected on its site. St. Mercury, according to legends, got a sword out of nowhere, it was given to him by an angel to defeat the barbarians. The celebration did not take place and Mercury was brutally killed, but even after his death he took revenge on the apostate by stabbing him with a sword. The image of Mercury is always a silhouette on a horse, and two swords are clamped in his hands. The temple is located north of the Babylonian fortress, in the area of Old Cairo. Cairo has flights - you can always fly there without any problems.
