What to see in Cairo

Cairo is the multi-layered capital of Egypt, where traces of ancient history, medieval quarters and modern quarters along the Nile coexist. The city with a thousand-year history lives in the rhythm of noisy bazaars, majestic mosques and unhurried embankments, preserving a unique atmosphere in which every corner breathes the past and the present.

Manufactures and facilities

There are many man-made sights in Cairo that are worth seeing: the legendary pyramids of Giza and exhibits of the Cairo Museum, the Salah al-Din Citadel with the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, the monumental mosques of Sultan Hassan and Ibn Tulun, as well as the Al-Azhar Mosque and the Suleiman Pasha Mosque. Historic streets and palaces such as Al Muiz Street, Al-Gawra Palace and Amir Taz, the bustling Khan al-Khalili Market, Qasr al-Nil Bridge and monuments in the central squares complement the cultural landscape of the city. Don’t forget to visit the Coptic Quarter with its ancient temples and churches, the Serapium Catacombs and numerous museums.

Natural attractions and places

Natural corners and urban oases give Cairo an additional attraction: the Nile embankment and numerous Cornishes invite you to walks, Al-Azhar Park and Gabalaya Park-Aquarium serve as green islands in the metropolis, and Mount Muqattam opens panoramas of the city. In the vicinity, Lake Karun and Wadi el Rayan waterfalls are noted, where nature coexists with history and offers the possibility of short trips to nature.

Build routes and visit interesting places

On our site you can see all these attractions on an interactive map: brief descriptions, practical information and photos are available in the object cards. Note the places of interest, read short references and build convenient routes - both walking and car. Routing tools will help you calculate the time and make a plan for one day or a few days to get to know the city in depth.

You can explore Cairo on your own, following the routes laid out, or book excursions with local guides. Professional guides will tell stories, show hidden pearls and help you see familiar places from a new angle. Excursions are suitable for different formats - cultural walks, themed tours and family outings - and make acquaintance with the city more rich and informative.

Come to Cairo to see the pages of ancient history with your own eyes, walk through the noisy bazaars and climb to the observation decks. Discover new routes, celebrate the sights and go to meet the discoveries – the city is ready to share its secrets and give an unforgettable experience.
