Tahrir Square

Egypt, Cairo, Wust El Balad, Tarhir Square

Description:

Cairo’s Tahrir Square is known locally as a gathering point for discontent. Throughout history, there has always been a revolt here: against British intervention, against military action. Despite this, the square has great cultural value.

On the sides there are buildings of different architectural styles: "Nile Hilton" - a pontifical hotel for the rich, "Mogamma" - the building of ministries in the style of the USSR of the 30s, the Cairo Museum - a red and white structure in neoclassical.

Tarhir Square is the most important center of tourism and pastime in general. Here depart the streets with many shops, souvenirs, restaurants. The square is well located - in the popular city of Cairo, as well as near the Sadat metro.
