The taste and smell of Normandy
Description:
Normandy is distinguished by the refinement of local cuisine and gastronomic preferences of local products.
Even if many guides talk only about Calvados and cider, which really occupy a large place in the farms of Normandy, but this is only the tip of the “iceberg” of Norman cuisine.
Every day, on the local radio channel France Bleu Normandy, the people of Normandy share new recipes for Norman cuisine.
Normandy has always been an agricultural province of France. Its nature and grazing Norman cows on the green slopes of meadows are very picturesque.
Norman cheeses like Camember have already become a well-known cheese brand – a cheese “brand” like Dior in fashion. And butter, sour cream and cream, apple juices and cider of different colors and fresh seafood are always here in abundance, I am not talking about Calvados - the "patriarch" of Normandy.
And so I offer you a gastronomic tour to taste the goodies of this generous province. But I suggest you not just take a ride through the famous Calvados distillery and cheese factories, but to taste Normandy! Find out what is called the “Norman hole” in food and even make this “hole” yourself!!
We can create a program based on your preferences and according to your desire and taste. Here’s a quick summary of what I offer on this tour, which I call “The Taste and Smell of Normandy.”
- A visit to a cheese factory in a cute little village, where you will see all the stages of cheese production, from milk to ready-made cheese. You need to get there in the morning, as the entire conveyor goes before lunch. Then in the shop - an exotic boutique of this factory - you can try a lot of cheeses with different fillings, different shapes and different consistency for free. You will always remember the taste of not only Camember, but also Livaro, Pont-Levec.
- we will definitely visit the oldest "sidereria" on the way - the farm estate, where cider and apple juice are produced and go down to the basements of one of the most traditional Norman Calvados disteleries, where, of course, there is always a tasting!
- for lunch we will go to the most beautiful luxury Norman manor, where you will prepare the most delicious Norman dishes chef. And you will be the guests of this gastronomic dinner.
- I take you to the seafood market, where you can immediately taste the freshest seafood - oysters, sea urchins, sea knives with good wine.
In Fecam, in the Benedictine Palace of Alexander Le Gran, you will try Benedictine Balsam, invented in the XVII century by Benedictine monks.
- together we can order special master classes for you from local Norman chefs.
A gastronomic tour can be both historical, that is, tastings + excursions to the cute Norman towns of the coast - Deauville, Honfleur, Etretat and Fekam.
Start the tour from any city of Normandy from your hotel, or the ship on the pier of cruise ships in Le Havre or Sherburg.
*** For 1 day, with departure from Paris, you can visit only a maximum of 2 distillery and one cheese factory and the city of Deauville, Honfleur. The tour program can be designed for 1-2-3 days.
