The Fortress Sokol Grad was first restored in 2013 since Dubrovsk residents left it in 1670. After 350 years of oblivion, archaeologists came to the fortress to discover its secrets. The settlement on the site of Sokol hail existed in the Bronze Age 2000 years BC. e. The fortress has prepared a large exposition of archaeological finds: bronze vessels, iron spears, amber jewelry, glass and bronze from a tomb dating from 500 BC. The first stone buildings on this site built orra, as evidenced by the found coins depicting the Ir king Balea (1000 BC). Later, the Romans built a wooden fortress here. With the arrival of the Byzantines in the first half of the 6th century, a stone fortress was built, the remains of which have survived to this day. Each period of history left its traces in the fortress, testifying to the way of life in those distant centuries. Fibula, keys, seals, remains of ceramic and glass dishes of ancient times. In the Middle Ages, it was not just a fortress, but a whole city with military fortifications. Found inscriptions on Glagolitic dating from the 11th century. Especially surprised archaeologists found glassware made of very rare and expensive types of glass. Glass bowls are made with relief on the outer surface, since in those days they ate with their hands and the relief on the bowls allowed to keep them greasy from eating with their hands. In the Middle Ages, the fortress was ruled by Serbs and Bosans until 1420, when the fortress passed into the possession of Dubrovachka republic. The Dubrovachka aristocracy did not like this fortress very much, they did not like the idea of serving in a secluded fortress on the borders, without the usual comforts and comforts. Dubrovsk residents used the fortress Sokol-grad to protect the borders, to control the Konavlye and to repel the attacks of the Turks. When a peace treaty was concluded with the Turks, the defensive role of the fortress was lost. After a strong earthquake and the subsequent crisis in 1670, Dubrovsk residents leave the fortress.
