Franciscan monastery

Placa 2, 20,000, Dubrovnik, Croatia

Description:

The Franciscan Monastery in Dubrovnik is one of the most powerful medieval buildings. Its construction belongs to the XIV century. Located in the city center. The monastery is a whole complex: a church, two cloisters - upper and lower, built in the Romanesque style; a pharmacy, currently it houses a museum. The monastery houses one of the largest libraries in Croatia. The complex itself is located on a large area. The upper part of the monastery is built in Renaissance style. The difference in building styles is explained by the fact that in different centuries the monastery was destroyed due to wars or natural disasters.

You can get to the monastery complex from the airport in Dubrovnik by 27 buses or book a taxi.
