On the central square of the Old Town - Luzha
Description:
In Croatia, one of the attractions of Dubrovnik is the Princely Palace, built in the 15th century. This building has an impressive size and was previously used as a residence for the prince. In this building everything was arranged so that its owner could stay in the palace constantly, without leaving it. For this purpose, the following were constructed:
- Premises for servants;
- living rooms;
- courtroom;
- a small prison;
- kitchen;
- large pantry with food;
- weapons storage room;
- powder cellar.
At that time, the gates of the city were closed for the night and guarded by guards. The keys to the gate were kept in a special room of the castle.
During its existence, the palace was repeatedly rebuilt. Today it is a one-storey building with a courtyard and a mezzanine. On the facade are decorative elements of the Renaissance, and in the courtyard there is a statue of the famous navigator Prazat Miho.
How do I get there?
The Princely Palace can be reached from the city of Dubrovnik by ferry or bus, which makes daily excursions along this route. You can also get here by train to Ploce station, and then walk or drive to the castle.
