Description:
On a small triangle of territory in the north of Spain are concentrated three gastronomic capitals of Spain for 3 years in a row: Vitoria-Gasteiz (2014), Burgos (2013) and Logroño (2012). I invite you on a fascinating and tasty journey through these different Spanish cities, which are united by one thing - the love of wine and food!
In one day we will visit three cities, so to have time to see and try everything, our tour begins early in the morning.
Vitoria-Gasteiz. Tour of Vitoria from 9:30-10:00 to 12:00. Vitoria - the capital of the Basque Country - is famous for its excellent gastronomy, pincho-pot culture, Chacolee and Rioch Alaves wines. You will find yourself in a real Gothic fairy tale, with narrow cobbled streets and houses of the 15th and 16th centuries, it is not for nothing that Victor Hugo called Vitoria “a perfect Gothic city”. You will learn about the amazing fate of the old Santa Maria Cathedral, the history of Virgen Blanca Square and Cordon House, as well as much more.
During the tour of the city, we will taste the most popular author pinchos, which are perfectly combined with the white, slightly sparkling Chakoli wine - it is produced only in the Basque Country, as well as Rioja Alavesa wines. On our way you will meet cheese and butcher shops with shepherd cheese Idiasabal and choriso sausages, enoteks with a large selection of Chakoli and Rioja Alavesa wines, the oldest confectionery in the city, where eyes run from the amount of sweets. We will also visit the monastic bakery, the fragrances of which will definitely captivate you. An indispensable gastronomic souvenir from Vitoria is natural salt from Salinas de Anyana, a suburb of Vitoria, with various seasonings: with black truffle, olive oil, Rioja Alavesa wine.
From 12:00 to 13:30 – transfer to Burgos
Tour of Burgos from 13:30 to 15:00. Burgos is the head of Castilla and the capital of the province of the same name. Castilian cuisine is very hearty and is famous for its cosidos based on legumes and milk lamb baked in a wood-burning oven, all in the company of expressive red wines by Ribera del Duero.
You will find an unforgettable walk around the city with a tour of the main attractions of the former capital of the Kingdom of Castilla, such as the Cathedral of Burgos - a masterpiece of Gothic architecture protected by UNESCO, the Arch of Santa Maria, Espolon Boulevard, etc., which we will complement at your request with visits to delicacies, enoteks, pastry and bakeries.
At the end of the tour, we invite you to dine in the traditional restaurant of Burgos, located in an ancient building of the 15th century, which served as the first printing workshop of the city. In this restaurant you will feel a special atmosphere: waiters are dressed in national costumes, and from the windows there is a beautiful view of the cathedral. Try the traditional Castilian menu: Castilian soup with chickpeas, milk lamb and desserts of walnuts, honey and soft sheep cheese.
