Picnic in the crater. Wine and gastronomic tour

Description:

In the history and economy of Tenerife, winemaking is not the last place. On the island there are five wine-producing regions (deniminacion origen), controlled by origin and four of them are located in the north of the island. The first stop we will make in the Museum of grapes and wine of Tenerife, located in the town of El Sausal. Here we will get acquainted with the history of viticulture and winemaking on the island and will be able to taste the best samples of this wonderful drink, tasting (optional). Then our way lies in Icod de los Vinos – the city, which is secretly the wine capital of the island. Here in bodegas, which have existed for more than one century, you can taste and, if you want, buy wine of all eight items controlled by origin existing on the archipelago.

Among them are the famous wine of Malvasia with Lanzarote and the exclusive Thea from La Palma - aged in barrels of Canarian pine. In Icod de los Vinos, we can also see the oldest dracena on earth (a genus of plants of the Asparagus family), which is one of the symbols of the island, which is called the Dragon Tree here. From here, from Icod de los Vinos, we go to a picnic place, which we will arrange in one of the volcanic craters called La Caldera, of which Tenerife is so rich, as indeed all the Canary Islands. La Caldera is located in a dense pine forest on the northern slope of Teide. In this well-equipped place for picnics with juicy, roasted, fragrant meat and original local dishes, we will continue tasting Canarian wine. And in the event that you prefer to immerse yourself in the exactitudes of authentic Canarian cuisine, I can offer you a visit to the exclusive Tenerife Guacinche - a type of family tavern specializing in the sale of homemade wine and dishes of the national Canarian cuisine, which exists only on the island of Tenerife.
