Phnom Penh

Russian market

155, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Description:

One of the first places of trade for foreigners established in Phnom Penh is the Russian Market. It opened in 1980, when most of the foreigners living in the city were Russian-speaking. There is a huge range of various goods: souvenirs and antiques, silk and gold jewelry. The market is located in one of the oldest areas of the city, where there are no luxury villas and expensive hotels, and instead there are small cozy houses.

The Russian market is a very busy place, be prepared for the fact that all the parking spaces around it will be occupied. And if you are still lucky to find free space, then for an hour of parking you will have to pay about 2000 riel (15 rubles). Despite the large number of visitors, the market is quite spacious. The passages between the rows are narrow, but this does not prevent tourists from getting acquainted with the goods.

The central part of the market is quite interesting. There are food rows and shops with local dishes, and an unusual aroma of fragrant spices spreads in the air. Also here you can find all the seasonal fruits grown by locals.
