The Gourmet Tour programme:
- Village Smoking House – tasting smoked meat and traditional Cypriot sausages;
- Factory of traditional Cypriot sweets - tasting jam, kazinaks, churchella;
- Pink Factory - tasting of products made on the basis of rose water and rose oil;
- Tasting village bread and sweets in the village bakery;
- Walking through the picturesque village of Omodos;
- Wine tasting in an ancient winery.
We will visit the village smokehouse, where you will see how chiromeri, bulbs, basturma, lunza, bacon are cooked and smoked... You can try them not from cellophane packages, but the freshest, that is, literally removed from the heat. To the meat, the owner of the winery usually serves homemade red wine and rustic zivaniya.
The village of Agros is famous for its fields of Damascus roses, beautiful flowers known for their refined aroma. We will visit the “Pink Factory”, where you will see how rose petals are made of syrups, tea, rose water, liquor, fragrant candles and soap. This place is unique in that only here on the basis of natural rose oil make cosmetics: lotions, creams, masks, aromatic oil, peels, shower gels and even perfumes. Did you know that rose oil is known for its unique antiseptic properties, and its smell is a great antidepressant?
In Cypriot taverns, dessert is usually served with Cypriot sweets "glyc" - fruits, eggplant, watermelon crusts, citrus crusts, young walnuts brewed in sugar syrup ... Only about 50 species of "glyc"! We will visit the Nikis Candy Factory where you will learn how these sweets are made and taste them.
In the village bakery you will taste delicious bread, national pastries, fresh goats...
In one of the oldest wineries of the island, you will taste several types of wines, including the famous Cypriot muscat, which annually takes prizes at European wine festivals, the legends of "Comandaria" - raisin wine aged in oak barrels, as well as strong and fragrant zivaniya - Cypriot grape vodka.
We will stroll through the picturesque streets of the village of Omodos and then go for lunch at the village tavern where we will enjoy the traditional homemade cuisine of Cyprus. At the end of the gourmet tour, you will taste a couple of dozen national Cypriot dishes.
