Reservation of housing in Turkey: how not to become a victim of fraud?
Three Russian families became victims of fraudsters, using the services of intermediaries to organize a holiday in Russia Turkey.
Future tourists were looking for accommodation on Booking (the Russians did not want to use the services of tour operators and went on vacation themselves).
Travelers were not able to pay for housing with a foreign card, and they appealed to the alleged owner, and he invited them to communicate in Telegram, offering their services for booking apartments on the website.
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia reports that tourists transferred money to the alleged owner of housing, he corresponded with them until landing in Antalya. Then he disappeared, having previously erased all correspondence.
Tourists showed screenshots of the booking on Booking, which he allegedly made for them. In fact, there were no applications in their personal offices, and on the spot it turned out that at least one of their declared addresses, and there are no objects for change at all – local residents who do not know what happened live there.
Experts suggest that tourists could become a victim of a “phishing” site, which is not a real Booking.
Tour operators urge not to succumb to the tricks of attackers and book accommodation only through a personal account on Booking.com or through trusted companies.
