Day of Russia: named top 5 most booked domestic destinations
In June, Russians are waiting for a “long” weekend in connection with the celebration of Russia Day on June 12.
ATOR Vice President S. Romashkin confirms that the demand for the “long” June weekend is now less than in 2022, but the total sales volume in all domestic destinations for 5 months of 2023 is 15-20% ahead of the figures for the same time in 2022.
The main reason for the decline in demand for races with capture on June 12 in last year’s tourist cashback: festive races in June 2022 fell during the action period. In 2023, there is no tourist cashback program in Russia.
The number of bookings from 9 to 12 June to the resorts of the Krasnodar region compared to last year decreased by 9%, to Karelia - by 20%, for trips to Moscow - by 13%. There was an increase in demand for tours to St. Petersburg (+3%) and the Golden Ring (+1%).
Given the small depth of sales (1-3 weeks), tour operators do not rule out a surge in last minute bookings.
The interest of tourists and short-term price reduction in a number of areas, for example, in Sochi, will spur. The demand is also affected by the weather factor.
In a more advantageous position, the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory, where residents of the region or neighboring regions will go for 3-4 days.
