Crimea becomes an all-season resort
Crimea is a popular wintering place for many Russians who were transferred to remote work because of the coronavirus pandemic, so the peninsula becomes an all-season resort.
This was stated by the Minister of resorts and tourism of the Republic Vadim Volchenko at a press briefing during the X All-Russian tourist forum "Open Crimea".
Compared to the same periods of 2019, 40% more guests came here in September, 30 in October, and 10 in November.
In his opinion, the results of December will also be positive, despite the restrictions due to the pandemic. Volchenko noted that for hoteliers it was a surprise, but they coped.
Guests began to often go to the Crimea for “winter”, as here you can work, walk and breathe the healing air.
Some sanatoriums have developed programs for the rehabilitation of people who have had COVID-19. This category of tourists also added interest to the tourist flow to the peninsula.
Volchenko believes that to become year-round for the resorts of Crimea “potentially real”. There is no "interseason" on the peninsula. There is a resort and health season, when tourists can walk along the coast, in the mountains, in unique parks with millennial trees, travel to cities with ancient history.
The authorities and representatives of the tourist industry of Crimea are thinking about new opportunities, including for fans of mountain sports and hiking routes. Work is underway on the Great Crimean Trail route, campsites are in demand, auto tourism has intensified. These trends were taken into account by the hospitality industry.
On the second day of the forum, Vadim Volchenko and the director of the Specially Protected Natural Territory "Reserved Crimea" Andrey Borodin signed a cooperation agreement.
According to the minister, the document outlines the implementation of projects that will stimulate the development of eco-tourism in the republic.
