Moscow

Cuba is officially open to international tourism. When will the Russians get there?

Prime Minister Manuel Marraro said that most of the Cuban resorts are ready to receive foreign tourists from next week.

Authority Cuba They decided to completely close the island to foreigners six months ago, when other ways to contain the virus on the island failed.

From next week, Cuban hotels will once again be able to receive tourists from abroad. Now no one can explain how the rest will be arranged in the resorts in the new reality.

For example, how guests will observe the rules of distancing in restaurants and on beaches, how bars will work, whether the all-inclusive system will remain, how taxi drivers will disinfect rare cars, etc.

Cuba will not open completely and not all at once. First, the reception of tourists in the north of the island will resume, then - at the favorite Russian resort of Varadero.

As part of the “first stage”, 13 of the 16 Cuban provinces will be launched. Havana’s capital will be on lockdown – the city has not recovered from a second wave of infection when authorities imposed a curfew.

The shutdown of tourism and the closure of the borders have dealt a heavy blow to the Cuban economy - the tourism industry is one of the key to the country's budget. The Cuban government is keen to bring back international tourists.

The entry rules will not be relaxed. Every foreign tourist will pass an arrival test. Those with the virus will be taken to a state hospital for treatment, and all contact persons will be placed in booked hotels, but separately from the rest.

As for the prospects of the Russians, the only option is regular flights of Aeroflot Moscow – Havana – Moscow. According to experts, flights between the countries will be resumed in November. There are no direct charters for resorts yet. The high tourist season in Cuba runs from November to March.
