Where do Russians dream to go: Top 15 tourist attractions of the regions
As part of the project to increase the attractiveness of Russia as a tourist destination, the NAFI Multidisciplinary Analytical Center learned from our compatriots what attractions in each region of the country they are most interested in.
The Russian domestic tourism market is changing due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and related restrictions. Outbound tourism is replaced by local tourism: local tour operators and guides call tourists to the regions, and the sights of Russia are positioned as in no way inferior to foreign ones.
Comparative underdevelopment of domestic tourism in our country in comparison with European countries leaves the potential for change, but for Russians still characterized by low tourist activity.
Specialists see the need to increase demand in the domestic tourism market, and highlight interesting tourist sites of our country.
Irina Ivankova, NAFI Analytical Center: Russians are interested in sights that are located outside their region. And for rest near such attractions, Russians are willing to pay more than for a vacation in popular tourist places of the country. This indicates the great tourist potential of remote regions of Russia.
Economic growth due to the active development of tourism can contribute to solving the main problem in such regions - the outflow of population ...”.
