International Air Transport Association proposes COVID tests before overseas flights instead of quarantine
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has called for the introduction of COVID-19 tests for all passengers flying abroad.
The solution is proposed as an alternative to quarantine restrictions that pass passengers on arrival in another country.
Such a measure could help speed up the recovery of international air travel.
IATA reports that more than six months have passed since the stop of air traffic abroad to combat COVID-19. Arrival quarantine measures make travel impractical, and frequent changes to COVID-19 measures in some countries prevent tour planning.
“...systematic COVID-19 testing of all travellers before departure. This will give governments confidence that they will be able to open their borders without complex risk models that involve constant changes to the rules imposed on travel. Testing all passengers will give people the freedom to travel with confidence. And it will put millions of people back to work, says IATA Director General Alexandre de Juniac.
To quickly implement rapid tests, IATA plans to cooperate with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAA) and health authorities.
Due to “cove” restrictions, the global aviation industry will lose about $ 400 billion in revenue this year, the total loss is more than $ 80 billion.
