Special, well-known, modest - an index of tourist attractiveness of regions has been created in Russia

Consulting company KB Strelka has compiled an index of tourist attractiveness of regions.

The reviews of tourists about trips to Russia (in social media, blogs, aggregator sites, etc.) and the volume of tourist flow to the regions of Russia, except for Moscow, St. Petersburg and Sevastopol, were analyzed.

The research objects were divided into categories: material heritage (buildings, paintings, sculptures, monuments), intangible (music, cooking, language, traditions, literature), nature, event program, technologies and production, tourist infrastructure.

The leader of the top in the attractiveness of material heritage is Crimea. Tourists wrote the most reviews about him. It is followed by Udmurtia and Perm Krai.

There are many positive statements (57%) about Yakutia. Negative - 27%, 16% neutral.

The most discussed region in terms of intangible heritage was Tatarstan. It was positively rated by 35%, negatively 9% and neutrally 56%. Crimea and Chechnya follow. The Altai region received the most positive reviews - 85%.

Most of the statements about nature gathered Krasnodar region. However, only 12% of those who visited the region described it in a positive way. 79% were neutral and another 9% were negative. The leaders are Crimea and Yakutia. And praised after visiting the nature of Kalmykia (76%), Nizhny Novgorod and Kaluga regions (72% each), Adygea and Dagestan (60% each), Primorsky Krai (57%), as well as Karelia and Leningrad region (56% each).

The quality of the tourist infrastructure was actively assessed after the trip to Crimea. 17% of good reviews, negative – 37%, 45% – neutral. Also in the top discussions Krasnodar Krai and Tatarstan. And high quality was appreciated in Kabardino-Balkaria (66%), Krasnoyarsk Territory (53%), Adygea (50%) and Khakassia (39%).

KB Strelka divides regions into 4 groups: special, well-known, modest and inconspicuous.

The first includes such republics as Khakassia, Yakutia, Udmurtia and Chechnya. The number of reviews about them is above average and predominantly positive. However, the flow of tourists there remains relatively low. These regions have potential.

The well-known included the main tourist destinations: Krasnodar Territory, Crimea, Altai and Altai Territory, Moscow Region, Tatarstan, Kamchatka and others. They attract with their sights and natural features. However, it may disappoint the quality of the tourist infrastructure.

Modest - Adygea, Mordovia, Kalmykia. Their problem, according to Strelka experts, is the insufficient promotion of the tourist product on the market.

A large group consists of regions about which there are few reviews, and even with a predominance of negative ones. That's 56 of the 82 that passed the index. Moreover, they included many zones of the European part of Russia, where the most cultural heritage sites are located and which are more accessible than others for tourist trips. A subgroup stands out here, which, despite its low popularity on social media and rather negative image, attracts a significant number of tourists. It includes, for example, Vladimir, Irkutsk, Kaliningrad and Nizhny Novgorod regions.

Russians are always ready to spend time in nature. Its description is devoted to 23% of the analyzed texts and in more than 30% of cases they are positive. Our compatriots are attracted by original culture: music, dance, cooking, language, traditions, crafts, religion. Intangible heritage was in third place in the volume of all reviews.

And the main and general disadvantage is the infrastructure - 29% of all reviews.
