The tourist business of St. Petersburg requires to ease the restrictions adopted by the city authorities for the New Year
Hoteliers, travel agencies, carriers, restaurateurs sent a letter to the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov expressing disagreement. Representatives of the tourism industry oppose security measures during the New Year holidays.
Entrepreneurs emphasize that the ban on the work of restaurants, museums and theaters during the New Year holidays led to refusals to travel to the city on the Neva, refunds for tickets and booking hotels, tours, excursions, other financial losses.
The letter states that "the business fulfilled the requirements of Rospotrebnadzor and the city administration, but it was closed anyway."
Representatives of the hospitality sector are asking to review the restrictions and make changes: to allow the catering service in compliance with the recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor and allow restaurants at hotels with safe rest certificates (SafeTravels) to serve guests without time restrictions.
Among the proposals is to allow travel agencies that have received a safety certificate and a special QR code to carry out tourist transportation by bus. The business asked to ease restrictions on the work of theaters, museums, exhibitions, etc. on New Year's Days.
The Governor was urged within 5 days to make a decision that meets the safety requirements of residents / tourists and the interests of entrepreneurs. “Otherwise, it will lead to the final closure of thousands of businesses and, as a result, an increase in unemployment.” If the authorities do not meet business, entrepreneurs intend to appeal to the president.
