Temple of Nicholas the Wonderworker
Russia, Kostroma, St. Dairy Mountain 3a
Description:
One of the most frequently visited Orthodox churches of Kostroma is the Temple of Nicholas the Wonderworker.
Its appearance is quite peculiar. It is a round white building built on the principles of classicism. The building is crowned by the same round dome.
In fact, the temple of Nicholas the Wonderworker is a chapel. There are no architectural decorations on the outside of the building, there are even no platings on the windows. That betrays a certain asceticism, reminiscent of the true purpose of the temple. On the perimeter of the facade you can see several columns.
It is known that in the Soviet period the temple was given under the order of commercial warehouses.
Despite its modesty, the temple is visited daily by a large number of people who wish to pray to the great saint.
You can get to the temple by personal car or public transport, following the street "Milk Mountain".
