Festival of grape harvesting in Romania

Description:

Collection of wine grapes since ancient times is considered a holiday
Collection of wine grapes since ancient times is considered a holiday. Thus, the Romans began with a celebration in honor of the future harvest. Grapes were crushed by young slaves to the sounds of songs that were called “press songs” or “wine songs”.

On the spring holiday of Arminden - May 1, the barrels were opened and the tasting of the May - "pollow wine" began. In antiquity, during the harvest of grapes, no one dared to punish a slave who could scold the owner and drink any amount of wine (or in reverse order).

Romania has been producing wine for about 3,000 years. Vineyards occupy about 300 thousand hectares. About 7 million liters of wine are produced here annually. During the harvest period, ushats with muscat and a clay jug are put at the door of the wine cellar so that passers-by taste and assess the quality of the wine.

In the bazaars, sellers scoop up wine from barrels with a large bucket and hand out full buckets to customers: “Try!”
