The Hermitage Museum which is number one museum in a city and probably in Russia. The tour will take 3 hours. You will see all great masterpieces by western european masters.  There is a story about how huge it is. If you stop in front of each exhibit for 3 minutes it will take 11 years to see the whole collection. It houses 3 million exibits.

The Russian  Museum is situated in the heart of St. Petersburg and 10 minutes walk from The Church on the Spilled Blood. It houses russian collection of art.

The Church on the Spilled Blood is one of the attractive  place in a city. It was designed to imitate old russian style of 17th century. It was built in order of memory of russian emperor Alexander the Second. The remarkable thing is mosaic. The church contains over 7500 square meters of it. The construction works ran well over budget having been estimated at 3,6 million rubles but ending up costing over 4,6 million.

St. Isaac's Cathedral is the 4th largest cupola dome cathedral in the world after St. Peter in Rome, St. Paul in London and Santa Maria in Florence. It took 40 years to built it ( 1818-1858) . One of the historical fact about it that the dome was painted grey during WW2.  The made it to protect it during the bombing.

Yusupov Palace is famous for the murder of Grigori Rasputin. It houses a museum right now. It was bought by the wealthiest russian family - Yusupov. There were 40 mansions belonged to them in 18th century. This palace was electrified after Winter palace. These are a few examples. All this palaces and cathedrals are in a city. Let's talk about another destinations.

The Great Palace in Peterhof and gardens. This is a russian Versailles and the first summer residence of Peter The Great the founder of St. Petersburg. It is famous for it's fountains. Totally 315 fountains are on the ground of two parks ( Lower park and Upper garden ). Actually Peterhof is a complex of the former royal palaces. All the former mansions were built in different times and for different purposes. It was absolutely destroyed by german troops in 40's of 20 century.

Catherine Palace ( Tzar's village ) and park  are  one of the fascinating place near St. Petersburg. It is situated in 27 km. from it. It became the second summer residence of Russian Royalty. The world known Amber Room is there. The main alterations and innovations of the palace  were made by Rastrelli.   It was burnt down during WW2. And completely restored in 60's of 20 century. It is a great example of restoration work. Soviet masters used old sketches made by that masters of 18th and 19th centuries.   This is one of the place you should visit.

Pavlovsk is next to Catherine Palace. It is absolutely different compare to  the previous palaces. It was ordered by Catherine The Second to her son Paul the First. It was designed in a classical style. The main architect came from Scotland ( Charles Cameron )and brought new tendencies to St. Petersburg.
