Oyster farm in Croatia

Excursion to the oyster plantation located in Small Ston. Delicacy for experienced gourmets, as well as everyone who wants to taste "kamenici".
“Kamenica” means “oyster” in Croatian. There is a misconception that oysters do not eat in the summer. Allegedly, from May to August, they are not suitable for consumption (the rule of months in which there is no letter "R"). This misconception has a historical background. Once, in order to preserve the herd of oysters, during their reproduction (from May to August), it was forbidden to eat oysters. The bans were later lifted and the rule became a myth. But, according to experts, the most delicious oysters are in March. However, this does not mean that the rest of the time they are inedible or tasteless. The entire wealthy world, which understands the meaning of good food, consumes them all year round. The most delicious oysters will be chilled (so they are recommended to serve on ice) and watered with lemon juice. Of course, we are talking only about fresh, almost still alive oysters. This does not prevent the locals with great pleasure to eat oysters without ice and lemon with good homemade red wine and bread. Programme of travel: Start at 8:00 a.m. You are taken almost anywhere on the Montenegrin coast or its environs and approximately 3 hours later, along a picturesque road, you will be brought to an oyster farm in the Maly Ston Bay. On a small boat you will visit the oyster plantation, where you will be told and shown how oysters and mussels are grown, as well as answer your questions. After we offer you a bath in the bay and breakfast on a picturesque island, breakfast included (per person): 5-6 freshly caught oysters, opened before your eyes and served on ice with lemon juice, 1 kg of mussels cooked on coals, a glass of red homemade wine, homemade rakia (option), homemade bread, lemons.
At the end of the tour, another exclusive entertainment is possible, a visit to the evening Dubrovnik. Lunch (paid by yourself) is also possible at the wonderful local restaurant "Bahus" in the town of Ston.
